Title: 1096641 Type: Placer Gold and Platinum Claim Location: Princeton, British Columbia
This two-cell placer claim covers approximately 104 acres near the mouth of the legendary Tulameen River, just minutes from Princeton, BC. The claim hosts a combination of road accessible river frontage, bench, and contains a significant bedrock outcrop overlain by rounded gravels at the river's edge near its north end.
The present channel, low bench gravels, and bedrock have all been sampled as gold bearing and there are areas of significance with regards to heavy mineral concentrations indicative of platinum group elements in black sands. There are extensive gravel areas for panning and perfect drainage for high banking. The Tulameen River area hosts one of the few significant placer platinum occurrences in the world and has the rare combination of placer gold and platinum in the same deposits with ratios as high as 1:1 noted in the geological files.
The BC mineral file estimates crude gold production for the entire Tulameen River between 1885 and 1945 at 297,000 grams or approximately 9,500 ounces. Tulameen platinum production has also been recorded.
